Hey Gang- I found another great website full of helpful infromation. As grilling season is in, and the fourth is this weekend here are some great tips form http://www.simpleanddelicious.com/. Enjoy and and have a happy holiday

 Basic Grilling Tips
Grill season is just around the corner. Before you start cooking, make sure that you get your grill cleaned and in tip-top shape. Be sure to check back often as our Grill series continues.

Clean Your Grate

Make sure that you purchase propane or charcoal so that you are ready to clean your grate. Then if your grate has burnt-on food from your last grilling extravaganza, you’ll be ready when it’s time to fire up the grill. After about 15 minutes, scrub the grate with a stiff wire grill brush until all food particles are burned or scraped off. Let it cool down and cover.
Spray the cold, clean grate with PAM® for Grilling Spray (and your utensils, too). Then preheat grill about 15 minutes before starting to cook.
After cooking, scrape grill down with grill brush to remove burnt-on particles. ‘Cook’ another 15 minutes to help burn off remaining traces of food. Brush once more and extinguish fire. You will have a clean grate for your next meal.
Prepare Your Foods
Meats
Choose a thicker cut of meat and fish for more tender and flavorful results.
Trim excess fat from meats, leaving only about 1/4 inch of fat for flavor. Less fat helps avoid flare-ups and makes cleaning easier.
To avoid cross-contamination when handling raw meat, always bring out two plates when grilling—one for the raw meat and one for the cooked meat.
Vegetable

Wash and cut veggies in half or into 1/2 inch thick slices that won’t fall through the grate.
Smaller vegetables can be skewered for easy grilling—or use a grilling basket.
Spray vegetables lightly with PAM®; season with salt, if desired, before cooking.

Choose Your Tools

Use long-handled tools and long barbecue mitts to protect your hands from the heat.
Use tongs to turn and serve the meat, not forks—you will pierce the food and lose flavorful juices.
Use a meat thermometer to help determine internal temperature.
Before You Grill
Spray PAM® For Grilling on the cold grill and tongs.

Well, looks like the Recession drags on. Are you one of those people out of work, or are you afraid of being out of work? Then it is time to take back our futures. It is time we take the financial reigns. Network Marketers and Internet Marketers say they are having their best year ever. What about you?…

I don’t often offer my opinion in public, but maybe it is time.  I have a new rewrite to my business website. That is my into

I am a quiet advocate for small and home based business. Well, I’ve been trying to make a go a one for 1 and 1/2 years now. I must say that I have learned a lot in that time.

Many people today are struggling to pay the mortgage and put food on the table. There is so much bad news on the TV about the state of the world economy.

Let’s examine that for a moment. How do you feel after watching the evening news? Are you sad, depressed, angry?

Well here is a solution: Turn it off.

Turn it off you read correctly. Turn it off. Early evening is the best time to take a walk  with your family. If you need the back ground noise, watch something funny, inspiring, uplifting.

If you are trying to take care of your future, your family, then don’t put that negativity in your mind.  If your trying to run a small business you don’t need it. You don’t need it; your home business doesn’t need it.

Personally I would like to see more corporate responsibility. I believe that business has a duty to serve it’s community, not just make money. Don’t get me wrong, Money is a good  thing. It is the best tool we have to get things done today.

Corporate responsibility should look like giving back to the needy and homeless; yes employ them if possible, but if they can’t then a certain percentage should go to taking care of the individuals who can’t, or are down on their luck.

Speaking of  the news, I get so sick of hearing about how many people are getting layed off, how big our budget deficit is… etc.

It just freaks me out. So I go on news fasts from time to time.

In trying to run my business, I need healthy, fresh, informative information that has not been sensationalize to make me ,as I said , freak out.

I heard about a woman who is giving 4% of her salary to help her school system. Imagine if Exxon-Mobil gave 4% to help schools and our children learn and get a better education? Wow! If they are giving money and time to charity, and to our schools then great. It is just we never hear about it in the general population, or on the nightly news. All we get is how many billions these large corps make each quarter, especially the oil companies.

I think that is why I am an advocate of small business and home business.  Because those people seem to have more philanthropy than most of the rest of us.

If you already give to your comminty, Great. If not don’t you think you should start?

thanks for listening

Did you ever have one of those times in your life when you felt like nothing was working? Everything you tried to do went awry?

Couldn’t find a job? Money ran out? Relationships were falling apart? You felt like everyone was mad at you? And on top of all that you were in the middle of the biggest crisis of faith of your life?

I have been through this once before, but this time it feels worse. This times stakes are higher, there is more to loose. I felt guilty about walking away from everything the first time.  This time there was no place to go.

Let me start at the beginning.  The first time my world crumbled, I was 24. I couldn’t find a job, my boyfriend left me for someone else. I wasn’t doing well in school, and I was frustrated to say the least.

I had dropped out, let a very depressed woman move in with me, because I thought I was helping.  I believe the famous quote is “what sweet hell is this?”

Anyway my only way out was to move in with family in another state. The Grandparents sent me back to school, sent me to church, and screened all my friends to make sure I wasn’t going in with the wrong crowd again.

Why do I say this time is worse? There are no more grandparents. Somehow I need to do my own rescuing.

Some how in there I received a calling to do something more, but what? As much as learned and gained going to church with the grandparents, there was still something there that gave me the willies. Maybe I didn’t truly understand. After all why am I here again? Was something missing? Did I do something wrong? Is this just karma?

Or is this really about forgiveness? The ability and the willingness to really forgive ourselves, and others is rare. Can we really forgive? Can we really learn to love our neighbor as ourselves as Jesus taught?

Maybe in answering those questions is really where true wisdom begins. Yes?

How do you find your way through the darkness? I mean really you feel so lonely sometimes. Or is “darkest before the dawn” really just BS. Sometimes I just want to scream. Then there is that calling again. The calling to be more of what I am.

There are questions that keep swirling in my mind. How did it get this bad? What will happen next? Is it a question of faith? If there really is a devil, is he here in my house?

This little writing is about finding faith. Sometimes, I think when things are darkest, is exactly that point when we find our faith and strength to push forward. Some times when things are the absolute worst do we learn who we really are.

Almost Easter- Do you have favorite dishes for this holiday meal? How about a spiral cut Ham and scalloped potatoes? Do you make homemade rolls?

Our family sort of does. Call it a new tradition. Mom get a honey baked ham and reheats with the glace. She puts champagne mustard on the site for who ever want it. Yummy. Of course peas. I think spring peas are her favorite food.

A few years ago, when the series The Mitford Years, was popular she added the orange cake. Every Easter dinner is different.

In more traditional homes its lamb. After all, lamb is served at Passover, which is closely tied to Easter.

After all Jesus was Jewish. The “Last Supper” was the Seder meal for Passover when he made the new covenant with his apostles.

Here is a great Lamb recipe:

Lamb and rosemary is a match made in heaven. Meat will be tender and oh-so flavorful, with a wonderfully caramelized exterior.

Butterflied Lamb with Fresh Rosemary

6 pounds boneless leg lamb roast, butterflied

 1/4 cup olive oil

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary

2 teaspoons ground black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon salt

1 bay leaf

1. Trim fat from lamb. Discard fat and place lamb in a pan large enough to hold it flat.

 2. In a small mixing bowl, blend olive oil, lemon juice, rosemary, pepper, garlic powder, salt and crushed bay leaf.

Coat lamb with mixture and marinate in the refrigerator for 4 hours. Before cooking, let lamb sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.

3. Preheat broiler.

4. Place lamb in a broiler pan and cook 5 inches under broiler for approximately 15 minutes on each side; this will produce a medium-rare roast. Remove lamb from heat about 5 degrees from desired doneness* and let sit for 10 minutes loosely covered with foil. This allows the meat to finish cooking while the juices distribute evenly throughout the roast before slicing.

Makes 16 servings.

*Cooking temperatures: Rare 140°F, Medium 160°F, Well Done 170°F.

For me if you are going to serve lamb, then skip the peas, and serve asparagus instead. First wash the spears. Take one end in each hand. And snap them.

You want to cook the tender tips. Save the ends for soup. Put them in just a little boiling water with some salt, butter and lemon juice.

Cook until barely tender. Scalloped potatoes are still a go.

Don’t forget to hide the Easter eggs for the kiddies!

Ever since the movie “The Secret” came in 2006 there has been a lot of chatter on the internet about how easy it is suppose to be.

Let us break it down really quickly.
1. Ask for what you want.
2. Believe with all your being you are going to get it.
3. be open to receive it.

I watched the movie;I read the book; I have visited the website of the various “teachers”. So you do everything they tell you, you’ve written your affirmations, you’ve given thanks, and you are truly grateful for your life, friends, gifts, etc…, you’re so open you’re practicality emotional.

Nothing, Nothing, Nothing.

So you go back and you ask why. You’re told one of two things, “Wait, be patience this takes time, when the universe feels that you’re really ready, you’ll receive your thing. Gee there is nothing about patience in their teaching. So the next step is sell you a program about being patient.

Or, you get this one, you don’t believe enough. So let me sell you this other thing about believing. And one question keeps coming back to me.

Is this the biggest scam of the 21st century? OK, that and the government is going to save us from the follies and criminals of Wall Street.

On the darker side –Does that mean we need to teach a teenager to control her every thought conscious and unconscious about how to guard against rape, because LOA says it’s her fault if it happens?

I find this outrageous. We do not want bad things to happen to us and our families. Tell me something if I send hundreds of dollars to that person, is that really going to attract something good in my life, or am I just a fool?

You have to admit these guys are marketing geniuses, or they hire them. Because there is always just one more piece they need to sell you in order to get it right. What is that saying” a fool and his money are soon parted” Or “a sucker is born every minute.”

That’s right, we believe them, we want our 15 minute of fame, and we want the beautiful house, the new car, and tones of money.

Wouldn’t life just be so easy? If just got everything we asked for? Well there is another saying I heard it on Star Trek, yes, Star Trek, Mr. Spock said “You may find that having a thing may be different experience than wanting a thing”

Basically what is meant by that is that reality sets in, the fantasy is over, and now that you have the thing, not only do have to take care of it, but the thrill of fantasizing and wanting is gone.

The Law of Attraction teaches that everything in our lives we attracted either consciously or unconsciously. So does that mean the 9 year old attracted the bully to steal her lunch money? Does that mean the woman attracted the abusive husband she married at 19? Does that mean we attracted the banking fiasco?

We have a wonderful guide already. For the last 1700 years this guide has been helping hundreds of people live better, happier, healthier lives with out the entire BS. It is called the Bible.

Yes the Bible. The Bible says “ask and it is given to you” That doesn’t mean you’ll get a new car and lots of money. That passage means Ask, and the Kingdom of Heaven is given to you”. Those that follow the teachings will be taken care of. I don’t’ think we have a real clue as what the “Kingdom of Heaven really is, but sounds like it might be worth the effort.

Think about this, if we give it up to God, Don’t you think we will be totally taken care of? Don’t you think we will have everything we need? We need to stop being so selfish and stop sending the scam artists and vultures our money, because then we will have the money for what we really need.

Wow! You took a bold step. You started your own business. You have everything lined up. You know your product, your service, you have your office organized, and you have set your schedule, so that friends and family know when you will be working. And….

Nothing. Why? You let the one enemy creep into your mind. Oh, it starts out small-a rejection or two. Then it gets a little bigger-you can’t seem to meet certain deadlines. Now you are looking at self-doubt. This is a very slippery slope.

Because if you let it get out of control. Next thing is you’re afraid. Fear has moved in and is planted in the easy chair. What the heck do you do now?

What is holding you back? We get so far into a project and stop. We think something is a great idea, but never follow through.

Some of us are so stuck in our ruts, and keep tripping over the same obstacles. Why? Ruts are comfortable groves that we have made in the path way of life. But there is more to it.

Sometimes we can not see through our emotion veils, and what holds on to us is fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, fear of disappointing others, fear of success.

Fear is part of the natural world. Fear warns us. Fear keeps us from being eaten by bears. Fear keeps out of the deep end of the pool if we can’t swim. This type of fear is normal

Too much fear is harmful to us. Fear produces our “flight or fight” response. This produces Adrenaline. Adrenaline heightens our senses. However prolonged fear can damage certain organs of the body. The heart the kidneys, the thyroid.

If you are afraid all the time. Then this is something you need to address.

Did you know that there are things you can do to get through your fear? Here are a few suggestions:

1.  Talk to some one about what scares you.

2.  Write down what scares you.

3.  get more information

4.  Have faith.

5.  take  action

Take little steps. Learn to swim. Find someone to help you with that idea.

Keep your head up. If you can see the big picture, and stay out of caves.

Fear will subside.

Thanks

“A home business for pennies a day”

Why do people fail? Well, there are several reasons. First, they have no plan. Second, they put things off-procrastination. Third, the learning curve, and forth is their marketing approach, and fifth support.

They have no plan. We think we want something. We see someone we know with successful business, it we see someone who we admire with one too. We think wouldn’t that be great? I could be my own boss, set my own hours, because they have no plan, they don’t realize how much work is involved.  We all know the old saying: “Failure to plan is a plan to fail.” Get yourself a good plan of action, make several plans, and then work the plans. Start with “Goal setting 101”. It is a short read, but very powerful as it gives you the basics in setting goals. Do the exercises.

Second: Let us talk of procrastination. This is my game killer. “Oh, I’ll do it tomorrow” and guess what many tomorrows roll around and you haven’t done a thing. This is one nasty habit. You can have all the plans in the world, but nothing is going to happen until you actually work those plans. Somewhere in my library, is a copy of “Stop Procrastinating.” My copy is  more than 20 years old and well worth it.

How much is there to learn about running a business and making it successful?-Oy.  A lot. Walk into your local Barnes and Nobles and you will see hundreds of books on business, check out your local college, and there are dozens of classes to take. Do a search on Google for business, and well…. You know literally thousands of hits. You stand there asking yourself now where do I begin? You will always be learning. Even a temporary setback is an opportunity to learn. Don’t give up. A good book to read is “Small Business for Dummies” I love the Dummies series. They are well researched and written for everyone to understand.

Fourth, marketing fiascoes. How many businesses do you know that are truly successful that can sell ice cubes to Eskimos? Now sell ice cubes in Miami on a hot summer day. You have to know your market, and you have to know your product. Another big problem, is advertising, where, when how, internet newspaper, both, how much to spend? Do you write your own ads? Or hire someone? And how do you know that the person you just hired has your best interests in mind? Another book… Guerilla Marketing or maybe one of Mark Joyner’s “The Irresistible Offer.

This brings me to my last point. Support… I don’t anyone is truly successful unless they have the support they need. I mean the support of your family, friends, and staff. If you have support, you can conquer the world. There are great books here too, from spiritual to well everything in between, but the best support comes from those that love you.

Peace

So why do so many people fail? Are they afraid of success? Do they not think they can handle the responsibility? Are they afraid they will be laughed out of the room when discussing what they want?

We are such sheep. We are afraid, we don’t want to be laughed at, and we don’t want to lose. We worked so hard to be in the “in crowd”-the click.  What are we? 15? Unfortunately, this is everywhere. This type of gossip is a disease. Laughing at everyone who is different from us is wrong. It robs people of their creativity, and individuality. What is worse is when the administration of an organization encourages it.

It takes tenacity, integrity, and a thick skin to strike out and go after your dreams.

Oh, I’ve heard so many things- The thing that sticks in my mind from earlier attempts at MLM.

The conversation would be something like, “Are you out of your mind? You can not do that? What will people think? You just got scammed. You are throwing your money away. That is nothing but snake-oil. Why don’t you go get a real job?”

If we are not careful we start believing this.

Well guess what? People who are in MLM are some of the hardest working people I know. Their public face is always smiling; they have the best working attitude I have ever seen. They are always reading and studying. They are constantly reading, and listening to positive upbeat things.

No wonder it looks so attractive. Don’t you want to be happy? Wouldn’t you like to have fun working? Because as glamorous as the “big money” sounds, it is the lifestyle, it is always being around happy people.  Can you stand being happy?

How do we feel when we are always around someone who is grouchy, or cranky or withdrawn? It is like walking on egg shells all the time. This can cause a lot of stress, and it is the negative stress in our lives that leads to disease. Think about it this way-if you split the word disease you get dis ease- Or literally, not at ease.

Check this out and let’s get happy. http://thebishopscandle.net

So why do people fail? 80% of those who get into an MLM drop out in the first 18 months. Well many think that if a few people were able to succeed so quickly then they can too-. Until we see what kink of work is involved to stay focused and moving forward.

Well what made that person succeed so quickly? In some cases it is a matter of experience. Or maybe they are not shy-they are able to work the “three foot” rule with ease. I mean all you have to do is open your mouth, and if you are truly excited about what you are doing, well it is the excitement that is contagious.

Another reason why people fail is that they don’t follow the system. Many MLM’s have a system in place to help you sell your product and recruit. One does not have to a genius marketer to do this. They think that some how the system is silly or won’t work, so they try to invent the wheel.

Anther reason is procrastination. They think oh, I’ll do that later. Right now I just want to do this…. Next thing they know time has past and they still have not connected with a singe person.

They hand out one business card or one brochure and wonder why people aren’t stampeding to the door.

It does not take a lot skill to do this business, but it does take commitment, and drive and enthusiasm. You also have to have the discipline to follow through.

So don’t reinvent the wheel. Follow your up line’s system. How did that other person get so successful so fast? He followed his up line’s advice, he worked his list, he spread his enthusiasm, and he was disciplined and followed through.

Another thing that may help if you are shy is to brand yourself. When you are out wear a shirt or hat with your company info on it. You never know who will be curious enough to ask “what is that?” and there is your entrance to introduce yourself and your opportunity.

You can too. You can be part of the 20%. Don’t give up. Read uplifting books, listen to things that make you happy, and do everything your up line does. Replicate and duplicate, don’t reinvent.

Peace

Kimberly

I am reading a really interesting book. “The Art of War for “Woman” by chin-ning chu.

she is clever. she weaves Sun Tzu’s Art of War into a teatise on how women should behave in the world of work.

An aha moment came in a section about knowing yourself. Because after all how can you know what your customers and clients are going to want if first, you do not know yourself.

So, this is the excerice: this takes practice, and a little meditation. Ask yourself what is motivating you? Why do you do what you do?

See I believe spirit brought me to now to teach me something, and that is a very deep lesson about myself. the question is “what is holding you back?”. No knowing the answer to this question, can sabotage evan the noblest of quests and ambitions.

Ok, I am on a quest. I am on a quest to know myself, what holds me back what motivates me? And I am quietly asking these same questions in terms of my customers, and the prospects that I wish to attract and build relationships with.

I have a sence of ergancy about all this. I have given myself some goals and deadlines. In network marketing and sales you can not be afraind to talk to people. Also, know that with every person and with every attempt you should be learning. Learning what you did right and learning what you did wrong.

If you know that when a person rejects your products or your offer to join the business, you cringe or panic, then you need to start asking yourself some very important questions. What causes you to fall apart when facing rejection?

You know we hear no every day. We should be used to it, and not take it personally. After all that person my not like your product, or they don’t have the money to buy right now, but that should be no reflection on you as a human being, unless of course you don’t know when to just back off, say thank you and move on to the next.

we should all be striving to know ourselves, after all, this should be a life long journey not just a need right now fix. The word enlighten has the word light as its root. This means literally provide light. Think about becoming light, and shining a light on the darkness inside ourselves.

This does not give us the right to beat up on others, or ourselves.

Sun Tzu was very interesting. He know  what his employer, the emperor needed to hear in order to keep his job. Yet I believe he did not sacrifice himself to do this. He understood the fine line between pleasing his emperor, and keeping to his principles. after all he knew himself very well. and you should too, if you with to succeed on business today, or in the art of building relationships.

anyway until next time

Peace

Kimberly

It can be pretty scary out there. With rising fuel costs, groceries prices skyrocketing, it is a wonder we all don’t pull our hair out.

An interest thing is occurring. More and more people are looking for network marketing opportunities. There is a surge of MLM information out there. Thanks in part to the web, MLM information (and misinformation) are everywhere.

We had surge like this during the recession of the late ‘80’s. And why not, MLM is simple to do. And the web does make it easier to find leads, and stay in touch with your customers, associates and prospects.

Of course the trick is finding the right information. I have a library of books and eBooks on MLM. One I recommend for the first timer is “Your first year in Network Marketing” by Mark and Rene Yarnell.

They list many examples of how your MLM business can get sidetracked. They also list solutions, and give some helpful encouragement. My point, and their’s is not give up, and don’t go off the deep end thinking you will make a million dollars your first year.

It takes time to build a solid foundation. You want to find the right people. Basically ask yourself a question. “Would you go into any other type of business with this person?” If your instinct is no, then maybe they might not be good candidates for this business.

See, you need to pace yourself. It takes discipline to keep going. If you know the person is a flake. They probably won’t be a good business.

You can read more about me and my MLM business at http://thebishopscandle.net.

An update on the Walker ridge fire: 14,500 acres have burned. It is now 10% contained.  Several subdivisions have been evacuated, including people that live around Bear Creek, and Wilber Hot Springs. There are air quality advisories from Santa Cruz, CA to Redding, CA. The Spring Valley community is fine; we are just under a think blanket of smoke. I haven’t seen the sky or the sun since Saturday.
